Smoovie is a movie and TV show discovery app powered by the TMDB API. This policy explains what data the app collects and how it is used.
Smoovie can use Firebase Crashlytics to collect crash reports when the app encounters an unexpected error. Crash reporting is off by default. On first launch you will be asked whether to enable it; nothing is collected unless you opt in. When enabled, the following is sent:
This data is used solely to identify and fix bugs. It is processed by Google LLC under their Firebase Privacy Policy. Crash collection is also disabled in debug builds, regardless of your preference.
You can change your choice any time from Settings → Send crash reports. When disabled, no crash data is collected or transmitted.
Smoovie uses Firebase App Check to verify that requests originate from a genuine, unmodified version of the app. This involves the platform's device attestation service (Play Integrity on Android, App Attest on iOS). No personally identifiable information is collected or stored as part of this process.
When you browse movies or TV shows, the app sends requests to a backend proxy operated by the developer (hosted on Google Cloud). These requests include your IP address and a standard User-Agent header, as is typical for any internet request. The proxy forwards these requests to the TMDB API and does not log or store them beyond the duration needed to serve the response.
Your watchlist is stored locally on your device only. It is not transmitted to any server, and is included in Android's standard backup so you don't lose it on reinstall.
Crashlytics data is retained for 90 days by default per Firebase's standard policy. Local watchlist data remains on your device until you uninstall the app or clear its data.
If you are located in the European Economic Area, you have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of any personal data held about you. Since Smoovie does not collect personally identifiable information beyond what Firebase processes on your behalf, the most effective way to remove your crash data is to contact Firebase/Google directly or to disable crash reporting by uninstalling the app.
Smoovie is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
This policy may be updated from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision. Continued use of the app after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
